Christmas Pictures

Getting our Christmas cards ready to mail is a lot of work when you have kids. Everyone expects pictures of the kids. So, I spent Saturday morning taking lots of pictures. Between Brandon rolling over every time I tried to take his picture on his stomach and Natalie running to the camera to see the screen even if I hadn't taken a picture, it was challenging. Of course, I can't get mad at Brandon for rolling over...he's 2 months old. To be rolling over at this stage is phenomenal. Natalie's curious nature is also endearing and she just wants to see herself on the screen. I can't blame her for that...I want to look at the screen, too. So, if you are one of the lucky ones, you will be receiving a Christmas card, letter and pictures of the kids. I'm mailing them out today! Here's a sneak peak of the pictures.

Here are a few outtakes:

Brandon's Nursery - 5 weeks until due date!

I had a lot of fun putting together Brandon's nursery. I found some great finds and pieced them together...I think it turned out well. The crib skirt and the quilt were on clearance at the Pottery Barn Outlet in town. The surf board rug is also a Pottery Barn Outlet find. The bumper actually started out as cloth beach mats that my friend, Mary Catherine, and I put together. I found the beach mats on clearance at Burlington Coat Factory. The mobile was pieced together with Christmas ornaments found at Garden Ridge. I used the mobile frame from Natalie's longhorn mobile...she doesn't need it anymore.

The palm trees on the wall were painted by yours truly, as well as the canvas painting of the woody (an antique surfing car). Brandon's name on the wall is actually a wall decal created by a vendor on Etsy.com (an awesome website for people to post and sell they homemade goods). The monkey hanging from the curtain rod was a great find from Burlington Coat Factory.

The wooden beach rocking chair was an unbelievable find at Garden Ridge and the surf boards on the wall were on clearance as garden decor at Michael's. The pillow, plush monkey and throw blanket were found at Ross. I had some help with some of the decor in the room. On the bookshelf, you'll find some adorable Longhorn shoes sewn together by my friend, Mary Catherine (the same one who helped me put together the bumpers). Maybe Brandon could use those shoes as an incentive to come before his due date. He'll have more football games to wear those shoes for if he would come a few weeks early. Did you hear that Brandon? You'll also find a cute monster sewn together by my friend, Lesli. The painting of the surf board was actually supposed to be a sign-in at my shower, but everyone was terrified to actually touch it with the pen. Oh well, it still makes a great addition to the room...thanks Andrew and Amy!

There's not a whole lot in this corner of the room besides the bedroom door and the closet. I would have taken a picture of ALL of Brandon's clothes, but I don't have them on hangers...yet. The beach ball was a fun clearance find at Michael's and the Boppy pillow cover came from a vendor on Etsy.com. Check that site out if you haven't already done so.

I think we are ready for Brandon's arrival. It's still a bit surreal that I'm about to have another baby in the house, but Brandon makes his presence known as often as possible. I hope he's trying to tell me that he's out of room and ready to come out...I wouldn't mind!

4th of July Trip to Maryland

We flew to Maryland for the 4th of July. We had a great trip visiting with Jason's family and enjoying some of the sites of the area. We spent an afternoon at the city park, which was on old stomping ground of Jason's as a young boy. Natalie seemed to enjoy it, too.

Natalie also got to watch fireworks for the 2nd time in her life...she loved them at first, but fell asleep after 15 minutes. We hung out on the blanket and Natalie "read" her book while we waited.

Of course, Natalie got to meet and hang out with lots of her relatives.

We also got see old friends and meet Hunter, the son of David and Michelle Simpson.

Overall, I'd say it was a great trip!
