Update #2: My Jobs/School

Since I've been back in Memphis, my work situation has changed for the better. Just to catch everyone up on my work situation before I left for Colorado, I was working 3 part-time jobs and trying to finish my labs for massage therapy school. My jobs/school included:
  1. University of Tennessee Health Science Center - Senior Research Assistant (8 hrs/wk - Monday afternoons and Saturday mornings)
  2. Harding Academy - Substitute (4 x/wk = 24 hrs/wk whenever/where ever they needed me)
  3. Outback - Server (4 nights/wk = 30 hrs/wk)
  4. Massage School Labs - (3 nights/wk = 12 hrs/wk)
Doesn't that make you tired just looking at it. I'm still amazed Jason and I survived all that. Subbing at Harding was the best job because I actually got to see Jason every now and then.

Now my job(s) and school are much more manageable. My main job now is at the University of Tennessee as a 60 % employee (24 hrs/wk). I'm still working with the research program 8 hrs/wk and the rest of the time I'm currently training to manage/maintain the database for all the research programs in the preventive medicine department. It's actually a lot of fun learning about the research programs and how we help collect/analyze all the data for them. I have my own desk and I'm required to wear business attire, which is a BIG step-up from my days of teaching PE in gym shorts and t-shirts. I'm also still utilizing the degree I earned from the University of Texas, which is a big plus. Hopefully, I will become a full-time employee within the next month or so and I'll be saying hello to health insurance, a retirement plan, etc.. Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm still subbing at Harding 2x/wk. They're kinda disappointed that I'm not more available, but that's how it is. I've also officially said my goodbyes to Outback. It was a great job while it lasted, but I'm glad to not be serving food any longer. I still walk in at least once a week, say hello to everyone, and get some food to go.

As for massage school, I'm only doing labs 2 nights/wk and I should be done with all that by the end of this month. I've really enjoyed learning massage and can't wait to be licensed. I don't plan on working full-time as a massage therapist, but I do plan on massaging on the side. I have my own table and I'm able to go anywhere I'm needed. I think my friends and other contacts will keep me busy just massaging on the side.

Well, I'm exhausted thinking about all I've been doing over the past 8 months. It's been a wild ride, but I'm glad it's slowing down so I can enjoy my life with Jason and Baxter.

You busy girl! You're always going, going, going! I'm very happy for you with your job at the University - that just seems to be a perfect fit!

Hey Janet! I am glad I found you on here. You sound soo busy! I can't believe I am saying this - but I am jealous. I can't wait to start working again...but I have to wait until mid June. I hope you are enjoying Memphis! Utah is gorgeous...but sooo far from home.
